Bandrek Indonesian Beverage
Bandrek is traditional beverage from West Java, Indonesia. Bandrek made of palm sugar, ginger and other spice like pandan leaf, cinnamon, cloves. Recipe to cook bandrek is not difficult just enter all these spices in a pan filled with water and boiled until it was really boiling, after boiling add young coconut then serve in hot conditions.
With the ginger it makes a spicy flavor of bandrek and because this traditional drink was served in a hot condition, bandrek is perfect to drink at night or during cold weather. Sometimes people add milk to bandrek to reduce spicy flavor of bandrek.
Bandrek believed to cure some illness such as colds, flu, sore throat.
